I wonder if the planning people have any familiarity with the park over and above a map of it . The parking changes appear to be problematic for several reasons. They will make the parking very close to the access trail where people will be walking and it will also I believe removal of some precious oak trees that are about 35 years old. My suggestion would be to extend the present parking lot further east. This would also be a better cost savings.
A priority I asked about at the park gathering was a footpath access just south of the houses on the west side at the area where there is presently a picnic table. Very many of the people from Savage who live close use the trail have to walk down through rough terrain, and weeds and brush. A neighbor there has had to put up a fence to keep them from walking through his yard. This would seem a gesture of goodwill to those folks.
The shores on the west side are mostly narrow and steep and irregular. The area marked for hammocks I think would need improvements to work and the shores are blocked by cattails, grasses and brush. Also there is no parking near so does the park provide hammocks or do users have to walk around the park with their hammock? This seems unnecessary and I think it would be maintenance nightmare. I am a park volunteer and help to control overgrowth so I know the issues.
My wish would be to control expenditure and not completely tear up things that we don’t need to and save money to repave the existing path in the near future
