Correction to other 1/20/25 post: I should have stated that pickleball courts have been noted in various documents as "future expansion" from the 8 currently proposed.

Level 1

I cannot enter this note on Alimagnet Park, so entering herein.

I notice the doubling of pickleball courts from 8 to 16 when comparing Alimagnet's base concept to the visionary concept. I disagree with the fragile park and lake ecosystems being capable of handling 8 courts, let alone 16. This destroys the park ambiance for use by any and all residents seeking quiet use and enjoyment in a natural setting.

Level 1

It is rare to see anyone play tennis at Echo Park for at least the last 3 years. Removing it and having the new (and more readily accessible) playground would benefit children of all physical abilities.

Level 1

Seems fine.

Level 1

I don’t see much difference in the base plan from what exists which is fine. Getting rid of the tennis courts would be a horrible idea!

The idea of a sledding hill here is a joke. Kids will slide directly into the street or a private homeowner's shrubs. Take that entire hillside and convert it to a native grass so that there aren't permanent ruts in the hill where the mower's tires go every week no matter if it hasn't rained in 2 months. That would also positively impact the runoff factor into the lake. It would be nice if the basketball area could be better maintained (paved, striped with 3-point line)as there are youth using it quite a bit.The playground is used and I see couples visiting at the tables there several nights a week. It sounds like the tennis courts are something neighbors want to keep--please listen.

As a 20+ years resident of the neighborhood, this plan makes no sense. Particularly:

#5. Pickle Ball/Tennis Courts (removing lighted courts and replacing with expanded playground).

NEED?: If I'm not mistaken this playground was recently updated, and while used by neighborhood kids, it is very rarely "full" of kids at its current size. Making it larger doesn't serve any need. Keeping in mind that surrounding neighborhoods are intergenerational. Single family homes are occupied not only by young families, but also many empty nesters. This mix is unlikely to change due to the distribution of varied levels of property values. And additional playground areas in adjacent Berkshire multifamily development.

VALUED ASSET: Worse would be removing the Pickle Ball/Tennis Courts. Similar to the playground, they are welcome and used by neighborhood residents. To remove them would be to remove a neighborhood asset that is used and appreciated by many.

SAFETY: Importantly, the Pickle Ball/Tennis Courts are lighted, which helps keep mischief and drugs from the playground. Given recent playground shootings and known issues with drugs in City playgrounds, it would seem removing a known crime deterrent (lights) would be ill advised, at best.

Not sure about:

#9 Sledding Hill.

SAFETY: It appears the hill would slope in the direction of the 140th Street, where neighbor's bushes and turns from Frontier Lane obscure drivers' awareness/reaction times. Furthermore, the proposed vegetation would provide more "cover" to those who would use the playground for drugs or mischief.

ENVIRONMENTAL: Groomed/mowed hills would add runoff into Alimagnet Lake, a problem neighbors have been trying to address with rain gardens and environmentally conscious lawncare and landscaping (including some required by the City to protect the lake, ie: reductions in hard surfaces). Adding to a problem we're trying to resolve would be counterintuitive.

Do not get rid of tennis courts. These are rare jewel in neighborhood. Do add modifications for pickleball. Eare to have lighted pickleball courts
